PC1: The Healthy Blogger
As mentioned in an earlier post, this is the first real post in an ongoing endeavour to describe the how, why and wherefore behind creating solid money-making sites from scratch. And what better way to commence such a project than with a brand new health-related blog. Although renowned among webmasters as being fiercely competitive and (if you can reach the top) financially rewarding, I have never fully ventured in to this field - until now. I have chosen WordPress to drive the back end of the site simply out of convenience and familiarity. I did not want to expend too much time and resources (including money) on the look and feel of the site, creating an original site from scratch (and thus redesigning the wheel), but wanted to save the bulk of available resources for content and promotional purposes.
So, here are the starting conditions for The Healthy Blogger:
- URL: http://www.thehealthyblogger.com/. This is a brand new registration of reasonable SEO merit;
- Planned budget: $200 per annum. I want to keep the aggregate expense of all aspects of the site to a minimum and anticipate the majority of this will be invested in promotional efforts. The site is hosted on a shared account and therefore hosting costs have not been included in the aggregate site expenditure;
- Short term goals: over the first month, content accrual at a rate of three or four ~300 word posts per week. Straighten out any design aspects. Additionally, build just a handful of inbound links over the course of the month.
- Mid to long term goals: within the six months timeframe, to be earning in the region of $5-$10 per day and attracting of the order of 750 to 1000 uniques per day;
- Long term goals: with the twelve-plus months timeframe, to be earning in the region of $10 per day and atracting 1000-plus unique visitors per day.
All entries related to this project will have “PC1″ prepended to their titles and they will all appear in the Project Central category of this blog. I plan to publish at least bi-monthly updates on the progress of all projects included in Project Central and will also publish updates when significant events occur or milestones are reached.
